Access to HAART in HIV-infected immigrants. A retrospective multicenter Italian study

by A. Saracno, I. El-Hamad, R. Prato et al

There is an increase of AIDS cases among foreign patients in Italy, including both recent immigrants and long-term residents. Survey conducted among immigrants from countries outside the EU. No significant difference was found for gender, country of origin, risk factor, and years of Italian residence, while legal immigrants and those registered with the National Health Service were significantly more likely to receive highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) compared to illegal immigrants.
