Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Today on the International ‪‎Human Rights Day‬ 2015, we would like to share with you the interview with Anke van Dam, the Chair of AIDS Action Europe (AAE) and the executive director of AIDS Foundation East-West (AFEW), which has been AAE member for more than 10 years. She explains why a strong advocacy to UN and international donors is needed.

Furthermore we would like to inform you about the start of the new EU Joint Action on HIV and Co-infection Prevention and Harm Reduction (HA-REACT), which addresses existing gaps in the prevention of HIV and other co-infections especially tuberculosis and hepatitis in priority areas of the EU.

The new EU Joint Action on harm reduction will focus on three selected European countries, which are Latvia, Lithuania and Hungary, to help them improve their capacity to respond to HIV and co-infection risks and to provide harm reduction services targeted at people who inject drugs because it's effective in reducing exposures to infections like HIV and viral hepatitis and in breaking the transmission chains.
