HIV/AIDS surveillance in Europe 2012

HIV infections in Europe continue to increase. Scaling up preventive measures and antiretroviral treatment is key to effectively addressing the epidemic. Over 131 000 new HIV cases were reported in the WHO European Region in 2012, 10 000 more than in 2011, according to the latest surveillance report by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and WHO/Europe.
