It has been more than a month since the Russian Federation’s ongoing invasion against Ukraine. AIDS Action Europe expresses its full support and solidarity with our friends and colleagues, their families and loved ones, our member and partner organizations from Ukraine, as well as the people of Ukraine in general. We also wish to express our admiration and support to the voices coming from Russia, who protest and stand against the invasion and have demanded on numerous occasions that the war stops immediately, despite facing consequences.

AIDS Action Europe has joined a common initiative with other partners to collect and share information with our Ukrainian partner, Alliance for Public Health, on which organisations can accept and support refugees with HIV, hepatitis treatment, OST, and other services. Alliance for Public Health has developed a hotline to inform people on possibilities in the different European countries and can be connected with service organisations. We are also participating in regular meetings organised by the EU Civil Society Forum. This forum facilitates information sharing between networks and representatives of organisations that come from neighbouring countries in addition to hearing from representatives of WHO Europe, UNAIDS, EACS on developments. The focus is to set priorities for supporting populations displaced from their homes and their country.

We stand with democracy, freedom, and human rights!
