AIDS Action Europe and Deutsche Aidshilfe are organizing this years’ GBQMSM Networking Meeting in Budapest, Hungary. The meeting will take place on 19th and 20th September 2024 at the CEU Library, Nador u. 15, Budapest.
Aim and focus of the meeting:
As in past GBQMSM Networking Meetings, our aim is to bring together community representatives working in the field of GBQMSM Health and create a space for discussions, exchange, and planning of future activities. Following the feedback from previous meetings and similar community events, we would like to offer you an opportunity to learn more about the work of your colleagues from the WHO Europe region, especially about the different local and regional contexts you operate in. We hope that this will increase solidarity among GBQMSM-focused civil society groups in Europe and facilitate regional cooperation between community-based organizations with similar priorities and/or facing similar issues.
This time, however, we would like to set the focus on Standards of Combination Prevention in Central and Southeastern Europe. We invite you to explore and discuss the reasons for the lacking implementation of these standards in the region. Together with you, we hope to find ways to take government officials and institutions responsible for ensuring equitable healthcare for GBQMSM and other key populations into accountability, as well as to exchange ideas about how we can support each other and stand united against inequalities.
As for concrete activities, we are planning a local stakeholder meeting with Hungarian civil society representatives, plenary discussions, two parallel workshops, and a round of presentations on issues and topics you would like to highlight in the context of standards of combination prevention.
Application:
If you would like to apply for participation, please fill out this application form by August 12th, 2024. The form includes a short survey about the standards of combination prevention in your country – its results will be used as a basis for discussions.
The call for application is open to all AAE Member organizations working in the field of GBQMSM health. Please note that participants from Central and Southeastern Europe will be given priority (we would like for at least 50% of attendees to be from the region), as well as participants with relevant and innovative presentation proposals.
The meeting is going to take place face-to-face, but online participation will be possible as well. For applicants who would like to attend the meeting in person, we can offer full scholarships (travel and accommodation covered by us) and partial scholarships (only accommodation OR travel covered by us). Due to limited funding, the number of scholarships is limited as well. In case your organization has a travel budget for international events, we would be very thankful if you could use those funds (or apply for a partial scholarship), allowing more scholarships to be awarded to representatives of organizations with fewer financial resources. Thank you for your understanding!
Here you will find a handout with an overview of the standards of combination prevention, different types of interventions, as well as relevant guidelines and tools by health agencies and partner networks of AAE.
In case you have any questions about the meeting or the application process, feel free to contact Ismar Hačam (ismar.hacam@dah.aidshilfe.de) or Johannes Grill (johannes.grill@dah.aidshilfe.de).
We are looking forward for your applications!
Warm regards,
Ismar
