AIDS Action Europe (AAE) together with the European AIDS Treatment Group (EATG) reached out to the government of North Macedonia to ask it to reverse the decision to cut the HIV budget allocation. The initiative is in support of the HIV Platform consisting of 14 civil society and community-based organisations working in the field of HIV prevention and support among key affected populations throughout North Macedonia.
We urge the government of North Macedonia to take all necessary actions
(1) to make Ministry of Health reverse the decision to cut the 2022 annual budget for HIV prevention services,
(2) to accelerate the adoption of proposed changes in the Law on health protection which will ensure sustainability and standardization of HIV prevention services, and
(3) with interventional funding, to have the expenses of the civil organizations for the first three months in 2022 covered
