The conference wants to examine how regional policy can efficiently eliminate disparities in health by addressing the social determinants of health. Central to this are the following questions:

  • Which measures work?
  • Which initiatives do not produce any results (and why)?
  • And how can research outcomes be translated into policy and practice?

The conference is a two-day event with presentations, workshops, panel discussions and poster sessions. To increase the efficiency of policy measures for eliminating health inequalities, focus will be given to practice-oriented recommendations.

In view of the event, the steering group of the conference on "Reducing Health Inequalities from a regional perspective - what works, what does not?" is issuing a call for abstracts for poster content or presentations that will be presented at the conference.

Abstracts submitted for a presentation must describe good practices, initiatives or projects at local and/or regional level tackling health inequalities in the context of social determinants of health, under the motto "From theory to practice". Abstracts submitted for oral presentation must deal with one of the following topics.

  • Equity from the start (focus on children)
  • Social protection throughout life (focus on older people)
  • Equitable employment and decent work (focus on disadvantaged groups)
  • Equal opportunities (focus on women)
  • Universal healthcare (access to healthcare)
  • Health inequalities and psychiatry

Abstracts must be sent by e-mail to internationaal.azg@wvg.vlaanderen.be
